The 21st Annual Steel Design Student Competition challenges undergraduate and graduate students, working individually or in teams, to explore a spread of design issues associated with the utilization of steel in design and construction. Steel must be used because the primary structural material and contain a minimum of one space that needs long-span steel structure, with special emphasis placed on innovation in steel design. The 2021 Steel Design Student Competition will offer architecture students the chance to compete in two separate categories:

Category I: Workplace Wellness challenges architecture students to rethink the character of working during a post-pandemic era and the way to style for holistic physical and mental wellness for all the building’s inhabitants. We are asking you to travel beyond the traditionally held singular specialise in worker productivity and believe environments where most are safe and thrives.

Category II: Open offers architecture students the chance to pick a site and building program using steel because the primary material. This competition category permits the best amount of flexibility for any building type.

Winning students and their faculty sponsors will receive cash prizes totaling $20,000!

Faculty must register their students by April 7th, 2021.
