Design of a virtual office building in the metaverse by BIG,
Canadian-American digital media company Vice Media Group has partnered with Danish firm BIG to design a new virtual headquarters in the metaverse.
Dubbed Viceverse, the new headquarters will be hosted by the Decentraland platform,
where the agency’s virtual innovation lab will serve.
It will allow its customers to experiment with Non-Foldable Tokens (NFTs),
Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs), and Web 3.0.
Morten Grubak is behind the name of the project operated by Virtue Futures,
the innovation arm of Vice Media Group’s Virtue Creative Culture Agency.
And while the Bjarke Ingels Group hasn’t announced the Viceverse details yet,
it makes sense to provide a space, where clients and collaborators can be invited,
to make their mark in that space without actually undertaking a large scale campaign.
The goal of creating Viceverse
Designed by BIG, Viceverse HQ consists of an undulating shape where continuous lines and large perforations dominate the building itself.
With the aim of reaching 12 floors, visitors lead a secret winding tunnel.
On the first floor visitors face the NFT Gallery, while the upper floors serve as meeting and presentation spaces for meeting with staff to experience the metaworld.
Vice Group has selected Decentraland to serve as an open source platform,
allowing anyone to purchase a new plot of land to create and experience the metaphysical world.
The platform will also serve as a ‘digital launchpad’, allowing a survey of ‘the sociology of digital societies’.
It’s important for Vice Media Group to be involved in the early stages of the metaverse,
said Chris Garbutt, Virtue’s new co-chair and chief creative officer.
