Dubai Launches Nad Al Hamar Intersection Upgrade to Cut Travel Time by 30%

Major roadworks have begun at Nad Al Hamar Intersection, led by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). This move aims at easing traffic congestion and improving vehicle flow on one of the city’s busiest junctions.
New Lane and Expanded Storage Capacity
The project includes the construction of a new 850-meter lane linking Ras Al Khor Road to Nad Al Hamar Intersection, near Nasser Bin Lootah Mosque. This will provide a smoother route for motorists. In addition, the storage lane for vehicles coming from Al Rebat Street and turning left towards Nad Al Hamar is being widened. This aims to accommodate more cars during peak hours.
Noticeable Reduction in Travel Times
Once complete, the upgrade is expected to cut travel times from 15 minutes to just 11 minutes. This is a reduction of nearly 30%. The road’s capacity will also increase from 4,800 vehicles per hour to 6,400. This marks a 33% boost in traffic volume the route can handle.
Benefits for Surrounding Areas
The improvements will enhance connectivity to Rashidiya, Al Qusais, and Dubai International Airport. This will offer residents and visitors a smoother and more efficient commuting experience.
More Projects on the Horizon
Alongside this upgrade, the RTA has opened registration for 114 new projects scheduled for execution between 2025 and 2027. This is part of its ongoing plan to expand and modernize Dubai’s road network.
