✦ ArchUp Editorial Insight

The Design + Build Workshop in Italy combines participatory and inclusive methods to develop sustainable housing solutions, which use social and environmental and economic factors during their practical design work. The workshop uses material experimentation to create solutions through collaborative work between volunteers and local professionals and people with disabilities. The research method establishes a process-based approach which provides information about residential prototype development and community-based construction methods. The event demonstrates how inclusive design can create spatial innovations and ethical architectural practices, but its main effects operate through educational programs and experimental activities which do not generate extensive building projects.

Conclusion

This workshop provides a unique chance to physically participate in the design and construction of sustainable inclusive housing while working with an international community and learning from both experts and local community members. The program teaches architectural design and construction skills through real-world applications while promoting environmental protection and inclusive practices.
