The International Conference on Colonial Architecture and Town Planning (ICCATP 2025) will take place from 19–20 August 2025 in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, organized by the Institute for Global Academic Excellence (IGAE). Themed around the intersection of Colonial Architecture and Urban Planning, this distinguished event offers a platform for scholarly dialogue across universities, institutions, researchers, and professionals.

ICCATP 2025 will feature an extensive program of keynote addresses, plenary sessions, workshops, symposia, oral/poster presentations, and virtual presentations, creating opportunities for both in-person and remote engagement. This edition of the conference encourages multidisciplinary participation, inviting architects, urbanists, historians, and planners to share insight on colonial legacies and contemporary interpretations in built environments.

✦ ArchUp Editorial Insight

From an editorial perspective, ICCATP 2025 arrives at a timely moment when global discussions about decolonization, heritage preservation, and urban regeneration are gaining momentum. What makes this conference noteworthy is its focus on reconciling historical narratives with contemporary urban challenges, especially in regions where colonial planning frameworks still shape public space today.

The structure of the event—mixing local and international insights—opens the door to a deeper understanding of how colonial-era architectural legacies can be critically reinterpreted in rapidly evolving cities. The inclusion of funding and publishing opportunities also elevates its value, especially for emerging researchers from underrepresented regions.

We recommend this conference to scholars and professionals engaged in heritage conservation, architectural history, and postcolonial urban studies, particularly those seeking regional collaboration in the Gulf and wider MENA region.
