Exceptional Japanese Houses: Residential Design

5 December، 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Imagine a house with eighteen rooms that are just slightly larger than the furnishings they carry, or a tower-like residence composed of tiny, triangular rooms built one on top of the other. Japanese architects have created some of the most remarkable homes on the planet since the end of World War II. The Japanese Houses A new book by architect Naomi Pollock emphasizes major advancements in form, organization, material, architectural expression, and family living over more than eight decades, and it features the most striking examples of these remarkable homes since 1945. The author will highlight a few of the homes that are included in her book during this session. Yoko Kawai, a Yale School of Architecture instructor and co-founder of Mirai Work Space, served as the moderator. A book sale and signing will come after.
