MANZAR: Art and Architecture from Pakistan 1940s to Today

Qatar Museums is set to unveil MANZAR: Art and Architecture from Pakistan 1940s to Today, an unprecedented exhibition that will explore the rich tapestry of artistic and architectural developments in Pakistan from the 1940s to the present day. This landmark event, organized by the upcoming Art Mill Museum and presented in collaboration with the National Museum of Qatar, promises to offer a comprehensive view of Pakistan’s artistic evolution over the last eighty years.

Exhibition Concept

MANZAR aims to showcase the diverse and dynamic output of Pakistani artists, including painters, photographers, and architects, who have shaped the nation’s cultural landscape. The exhibition is meticulously curated to highlight the varied narratives, historical contexts, and contemporary perspectives that have emerged from Pakistan’s art scene. Renowned architect Raza Ali Dada has designed the exhibition, which will be divided into twelve distinct sections, each offering a unique insight into the intersection of Pakistani art with international modernist movements.

The exhibition will span multiple spaces, integrating both traditional gallery settings and the expansive courtyard of the Palace of Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al Thani. By extending beyond the confines of conventional exhibition spaces, MANZAR aims to create a dialogue between the artworks and their environment, enhancing the overall visitor experience.
