Painters on Painting: Avery Singer

Hauser & Wirth London is thrilled to organize an informal discussion on painting and its related subjects, in relation to the artwork of Avery Singer, in celebration of the ‘Avery Singer. Free Fall’ exhibition. We invite tutors from UK universities and their students to participate.

Attendees are invited to explore the exhibition before the conversation begins at 6.30 pm. There will also be an opportunity to enjoy the provided welcome drinks starting at 6 pm. Hauser & Wirth are hosting an event, ‘Painters on Painting’, where artists and tutors facilitate conversations about exhibitions. Through this event, university students passionate about painting can discuss freely their thoughts on contemporary painting and its artistic process.

About Avery Singer 

Growing up in a creative atmosphere in New York, NY, Avery Singer explored photography, film, and drawing, but painting was never on her radar. However, in 2008 she attended Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main, Germany and in 2010 she graduated from Cooper Union, New York NY. While in her studies, she dedicated herself to performance art, video making, and sculpture with carpentry, metal casting, and welding. It was only after she completed her degree that Singer found her preferred method of expression in a surprise experiment with SketchUp – a program her peers used to design exhibition spaces – involving an airbrushed black-and-white painting based on a digital illustration. Since then, Singer has combined the digital language of computer programs and industrial materials to create her artworks and pay homage to the rich tradition of painting and modernism.
