Overview
The Vitra Design Museum presents a major exhibition at the Schaudepot to mark the 100th birthday of Danish architect and designer Verner Panton who lived from 1926 until 1998. Panton created his unique design style which revolutionized furniture and lighting and textiles and sculptures and architectural spaces and interior design elements. His designs between the Panton Chair and Visiona II installation from 1970 still shape design trends from both the post-war era and modern times. The exhibition presents his work in two parts which combine chronological organization with thematic exploration to show the historical background of his work and the changes that occurred during postwar times and the introduction of new materials and production methods and the Space Age.
