Exhibition stand at YAPI Turkeybuild Istanbul showcasing construction materials, technologies, and building systems within a large trade fair environment.

Overview

Yapı – Turkeybuild Istanbul is an annual international trade exhibition for the building and construction industry, now in its 48th edition. It takes place at the Tüyap Fair and Congress Centre in Istanbul, Turkey, and belongs to the fields of construction, building materials, architectural design, and construction technologies. It is the longest-running building industry event in Turkey and one of the five largest construction exhibitions in the world.

Focus

The exhibition covers the full spectrum of the building industry, from structural systems, facades, roofing, and insulation to interior design, HVAC, smart home technologies, landscape architecture, seismic isolation systems, and construction machinery. It targets the Turkish market and draws buyers from across the Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa, and the Balkans.

For architects and designers tracking where building materials are heading technically and commercially, ArchUp’s analysis of the evolution of modern versus traditional building materials provides useful context on the broader shifts this exhibition reflects.

Program

The fair runs across four days and hosts over 437 exhibitors and 765 brands from 19 countries, drawing more than 43,000 visitors. The programme includes a VIP Hosted Buyer scheme that in 2025 brought over 400 buyers from 62 countries, as well as a business matching platform called ICA Connect. The event also features the Golden Magnet Stand Design Awards, which recognise outstanding exhibition stand design.

Product categories span dozens of sectors including architectural lighting, aluminium and glass facades, prefabricated structures, waterproofing systems, fire protection, elevators, ceramic and marble, landscaping, and smart building automation. Those following developments in sustainable construction will find a relevant reference in ArchUp’s coverage of the future of building materials and AI-driven construction technologies, which maps where the industry is heading by 2030.

“The building and construction industry is not just about what gets built. It is about the materials, systems, and technologies that make building possible at scale.”

The event is organised by ICA Events and held under the supervision of TOBB, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey. For those interested in how construction innovation connects to broader architectural thinking, ArchUp’s documentation of architectural projects engaging with material innovation and construction systems offers a built environment perspective on the products and technologies showcased at the fair.

Audience

The exhibition is open to trade and industry professionals. It targets architects, engineers, contractors, interior designers, landscape architects, urban planners, real estate developers, construction companies, material suppliers, and buyers from Turkey and the wider region.

✦ ArchUp Editorial Insight

At 48 editions, Yapı – Turkeybuild Istanbul has outlasted most regional construction exhibitions, a longevity that reflects both the scale of Turkey’s construction sector and its geographic positioning as a procurement and trade hub between Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia. The exhibition’s product range is deliberately broad, which makes it commercially significant but architecturally unfocused: structural systems sit alongside decorative lighting, earthquake isolation technology alongside garden furniture. For architects and designers, the fair’s value lies less in any single product category and more in the aggregate picture it offers of where the construction industry in the region is investing. The growing presence of smart home systems, seismic technologies, and facade innovation signals a sector responding to urbanisation pressures, climate adaptation requirements, and a post-earthquake reconstruction context that has reshaped Turkish building codes significantly since 2023. Whether the design profession engages with this material intelligence or leaves it to engineers and contractors remains an ongoing gap in how architects relate to the construction supply chain.

Closing Note

The exhibition is a significant commercial event in the regional construction calendar. Its relevance to architectural practice depends on how actively designers engage with the material and technical landscape it puts on display, rather than treating it as a contractor-only affair.
