Hawana Salalah is nearing the launch of its new Hospitality Training Center in Dhofar, with final preparations underway ahead of its opening in the coming weeks. The initiative is led by Muriya in partnership with the Ministry of Labour, Omran Group, and Oman Tourism College. It is designed to prepare young Omanis with advanced practical skills for careers in the hospitality sector.

A tourism hub embracing vocational training

Located within Hawana Salalah, Oman’s largest fully integrated tourism destination, stretching across 13.6 kilometers of coastline, the new center will welcome 100 carefully selected trainees. The program focuses on front office operations and culinary arts. It provides intensive hands-on training followed by direct employment opportunities in the hotels and resorts of the destination.

These events strengthen its role as a driver of tourism and economic growth in Dhofar.

Public-private partnership for skills and employment

H.E. Dr. Mahad bin Said Ba’owain, Minister of Labour, noted that the project illustrates the impact of public-private collaboration. It creates real job opportunities, empowers young talent, and supports national strategies for economic diversification and human capital development.

✦ ArchUp Editorial Insight

The article outlines the upcoming Hospitality Training Center at Hawana Salalah as a key initiative for preparing Omani youth for the hospitality sector. It highlights the training programs and integration with resort facilities. Yet, it offers limited insight into the spatial composition or material expression of the center itself. While the socio-economic dimension is strongly conveyed, the architectural narrative remains understated. This raises questions about contextual relevance and cultural integration in its design. Still, the direct linkage between training and employment opportunities positions the project as a valuable long-term contribution to local development strategies.
