Tabuk, Saudi Arabia – May 2025
Construction teams in NEOM have officially launched the foundation phase for the Trojena Dam, a key element in NEOM’s vision. It is a crucial infrastructure project rising amidst the rugged mountains of Tabuk. The dam is set to play a vital role in the region’s sustainable transformation. This is part of Saudi Arabia’s forward-looking urban vision.

The initial groundwork for the Trojena Dam is underway, with excavators and heavy machinery diligently digging and preparing the site for future construction phases. The project aims to create a sustainable water source at the heart of NEOM’s mountainous region.

On the Ground A Site in Motion

Amid dramatic rock formations and desert terrain, heavy machinery is operating in full force. Tower cranes, concrete trucks, excavators, and lifting equipment work in unison. Together, they lay the groundwork for what will become a critical environmental and water infrastructure element in the Trojena Dam within NEOM.

Strategic Location & Vision

The dam rises in a high-altitude zone of Trojena, one of NEOM’s six core regions. Trojena offers a year-round destination for tourism and adventure, blending winter sports, luxury retreats, and a futuristic mountain lifestyle. By creating an artificial lake at the heart of this ecosystem, the dam will provide a sustainable water source and become a prominent environmental feature. This project showcases NEOM’s dedication, wherein Trojena’s dam aligns with nature harmoniously.

Construction Teams and Execution

The project is being led by NEOM’s infrastructure unit, in collaboration with international engineering firms experienced in mountainous dam construction, specifically at Trojena within NEOM. Work is proceeding according to a strict schedule, backed by advanced geological and structural studies.

Current Construction Phase

Efforts are currently focused on securing the foundations. The teams are preparing the ground for large-scale concrete pouring scheduled for the Trojena Dam in the upcoming months. On-site footage reveals a well-coordinated operation between technical teams and equipment. This marks the first step toward a dam that may become an iconic feature of Trojena’s landscape.
