For the decor of London’s Mayfair restaurant Il Gattopardo, French design and interiors team Dion & Arles referenced the works of 20th-century Italian designers Carlo Mollino and Gio Ponti.

The designers told Dezeen, “We imagined Il Gattopardo to be a salon in which you can dine – not just a restaurant.”

Moreover, The studio was inspired by Mollino’s Turin residence for how it successfully blended contemporary and tradition.

Il Gattopardo, which is Italian for “leopard,” is a restaurant in central London’s Mayfair that, according to the design studio, will “celebrate the golden era of mid-century Italian design in an intimate setting” across five dining areas.

The tiny “salon,” or living room, accommodates 10 people in plush armchairs and is accessible from the main dining room and crudo bar through an inner eating area and second bar.

The lower ground level contains a separate private dining room.

Crushed-velvet curved chairs and a sizable fireplace with a bas-relief on its canopy define the salon space.

Sepia designs by Piero Fornasetti are used as table top decorations, which go well with the subdued amber seats.

Banquette seating has been minimized in the main dining area. Also, the tables and chairs are otherwise grouped in close clusters.

Rugs, cushions, and artwork all have the recognizable leopard print theme in hues ranging from amber to blue.

Also, According to the studio, “each project should belong to its particular location.”

“We do not believe in cloning because it provides the impression that one is always present everywhere. We want people to feel as though they are at a special location that is unmatched and “somewhere” that belongs to “someone.”

An eclectic assortment of free-form sculptures, objects, lamps, picture frames, and vibrantly colored carpets are used to decorate the rooms.

these designs “speak to the influence of the master of Italian flair, the interior designer and architect Gio Ponti”.

The ceiling is covered in a striped cloth inspired by the linings of Italian tuxedos. The crudo bar is topped with Italian stone in the corner. The paneled walls are also designed to resemble the dashboard of a classic Fiat coupé.

The private dining area, which has a leopard-print carpet from French interior designer Madeleine Castaing, was created to feel. Like a secret haven and was inspired by the eclectic, mix-and-match décor of Mollino’s apartment.

The designers stated, “We view patterns as a variation of color that adds density to the palette. “We generally prefer to work with a small-scale pattern, which is less intrusive.”

Furthermore, The private dining room’s wall is covered in elaborate sepia frescoes that are framed by textured fabric panels in deep navy blue.

The cloth between the ceiling beams, which was intended to resemble a sunset, diffuses soft illumination. A glowing onyx bar completes the cozy lighting design.

The firm referred to the interior design of Il Gattopardo as “a dream commission”. Because it allowed the team to operate in a preferred aesthetic.

“We are always referring to earlier periods when every house and family inherited antique furniture and juxtaposed it with futuristic pieces,” the company stated.

Moreover, A project by interior designer David Hicks and films by director Stanley Kubrick were references for the room.

“Everything can blend together; good taste or terrible taste is only a haven for lack of confidence. Also, To us, exploring the boundaries of taste is more thrilling.
