The House of the Future 2024/25 competition, presented by Buildner in partnership with the Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme, invites architects and designers worldwide to reimagine the future of living spaces for Emirati citizens. This competition offers an unprecedented opportunity to propose innovative designs that harmonize modernity with Emirati architectural traditions. With a total prize fund of 250,000 € and the potential for winning designs to be constructed, participants will have the chance to make a lasting impact on UAE’s architectural landscape.

Purpose and Objectives of the Competition

Following the success of the House of the Future 2023/24, this year’s competition seeks visionary concepts for UAE housing, focusing on adaptability, sustainability, and cultural resonance. Entrants are encouraged to think beyond conventional designs, addressing evolving needs and cultural values within a modern framework.

Prize Structure

  • Total Prize Fund: 250,000 €
    • First Prize: 140,000 €
    • Second Prize: 45,000 €
    • Third Prize: 20,000 €
    • Innovation Award: 45,000 € for using sustainable and innovative materials
    • Honorable Mentions: Six certificates of achievement

  • Registration Deadline: April 30, 2025
  • Project Submission Deadline: June 2, 2025
  • Winner Announcement: July 15, 2025

Jury Panel

The competition will be evaluated by a distinguished jury, including prominent figures from Calatrava International, Foster + Partners, Zaha Hadid Architects, and MVRDV. Each jury member brings expertise to ensure entries are judged on their innovation, sustainability, and alignment with the competition’s mission.

Participation and Fees

Open to all designers and architects globally, House of the Future 2024/25 welcomes submissions from individuals, teams, and firms. Student registrations are available at a discounted rate, with further discounts for group submissions.
