The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is proud to host the IIDA Student Design Competition (SDC) 2024, acknowledging the creativity and original ideas of interior design students all over the globe enrolled in interior design courses or institutions.

About Competition

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has recently announced the 2024 edition of their Student Design Competition (SDC). Therefore, celebrating the creative ideas and talents of interior design students from across the globe within an interior design program or institute. This competition allows upcoming professionals to proficiently show off their work and gain recognition from the interior design industry.

On Monday January 9, 2024, the competition will open and aspiring designers are encouraged to begin working on their applications and projects in preparation for the Spring 2024 announcement of first, second, and third place winners. A jury of interior design and business professionals will assess entries based on innovation and creativity, coherence and functionality, human impact, fulfillment of program requirements, and presentation of the information to evaluate excellence in aesthetics, design, creativity, and function, as well as the suitability of the design solution to the project challenge and successful amalgamation of the elements of design.

Submission requirements

Please submit a 24” x 36” digital presentation in PDF format demonstrating the best solution to the design prompt. The presentation should include a dimensioned floor plan drawn to scale, a furniture and material plan, a reflected ceiling plan. Two to four renderings of the completed space, two additional drawings of the space. Along with additional elements such as furniture and fixture specifications, color palettes, wall sections, and electrical plans. Additionally, please submit individual images of the outlined components as JPG or JPEG files (with a file size between 2MB and 10MB), in RGB color mode at a minimum dpi of 150 (300 dpi is preferred), and with a minimum dimension of 8.5” x 11”.

Eligibility

The competition is open worldwide to both graduate and undergraduate students currently enrolled in an interior design or architecture program.

Prize

The monetary award for 2024 is approaching $5,000.
