Parla brings manufacturing expertise to PALM collection

Whether the seating is found in a sunny villa garden or arranged around an intimate home salon, Parla’s PALM collection invites relaxation, comfort and conversation. This line features an interplay of negative space and shadow, transforming the furniture into a dynamic element that engages with light in the space. PALM overcomes the boundaries between the internal and external, inviting guests to explore the home, garden and beyond. Drawing from years of expertise in home and design, this collaboration merges aesthetics with technical finesse, resulting in a series that can transition between indoor and outdoor environments.

Based in Istanbul, the Parla story begins in 1910 when the company was producing furniture for the Ottoman Royal Family. Building off their legacy as traditional craftsmen, the furniture manufacturer’s expertise has grown to include advanced techniques in woodwork, metalwork, and upholstery. In 2023, the Istanbul-based furniture company collaborates with eponymous designer Jean-Michel Wilmotte and his Paris-based firm for the PALM collection, a series of seating and table furniture where the indoors and out meet with lightness, elegance, form and function.

PALM Collection sports indoor/outdoor flexibility

The PALM collection distinguishes itself through versatility, designed to function both indoors and out. The lines that make up the collection, Regular, Comfort, and Lounge, contain a range of seats, stools, daybeds and low tables, each combining touch and material with the contemporary contrast between the metallic and wooden structure. When the daylight passes overhead, the shadows of the furniture are cast across the floor. As much as the furniture exists in its softly curving, thin frames, it also has a poetic presence in the dark silhouettes it casts on its surroundings. Wilmotte describes this dynamism as, ‘Inside, outside: a new praise of the dark.’

Practicality and luxury find alignment in the collection’s construction. The frames of the furniture, featuring powder-coated metals, are matched with leather arm-wraps or solid timber armrests. PALM comes in a spectrum of shades, from crisp whites to bold blacks, with artfully selected hues that span the two tones – kraft, olive green, deep blue, bordeaux, and carbon gray. Whether in the exterior or interior space, the pieces are crafted for comfort. The water resistant lining of the textiles, covering multi-layered cushions, makes the pieces ready for outdoor weather. Whether it’s a casual gathering or a formal soirée, PALM has you covered in both style and substance.

As the collection aims at commercial interiors, we have ensured the highest standards for durability, specific outdoor finish qualities, fabrics to be used, and their certifications.’ says  Burak Öztunçman, General Manager and Owner of Parla.
