Ancient Techniques, Modern Vision:-

Inspired by Scarborough’s Roman signal station and nearby castle ruins, Deller chose traditional mosaic techniques but left the artwork intentionally incomplete. “It’s speculative,” he says, inviting visitors to “fill in the gaps” with their imagination.

Seawatching Station Masterpiece:-

Located at Scarborough’s Seawatching Station, Deller’s mosaic spans the platform’s floor, designed to be viewed from above. From this vantage point, the fragmented tiles merge into vivid scenes of marine life.

Deller explains in a Social Broadcasts podcast that the mosaic incorporates subtle nods to Scarborough’s history—like the walrus that once rested on the pier—rewarding observant viewers.
