Kindergarten design with flowing spaces slowly blooming like a flower,

Shenzhen-based architecture firm Yunchao Xu / Atelier Apeiron built a Kindergarten,

Slowly Blooming Like a Flower Outward in Shenzhen, China.

Dubbed Kindergarten in the Museum Forest, the building covers an area of 4,515 square meters

and takes the design philosophy of “Apeironology”.

This approach was proposed by the chief architect of the Atelier Apeiron Yunchao Xu,

It aims to embrace open borders, not to be bound by tariffs; Cross lines of discipline,

and don’t limit yourself to patterns.

Where kids need a small town, not just a classroom.

Design features

Green trees surround the building, new masses gently rise, and flowing spaces slowly bloom,

adding to the joy of this old neighborhood.

Modern society tames the body through disciplines, and social disciplines demand that people behave “right.”

In the company’s view: a large playground, large classrooms,

and multi-functional spaces are the configurations that make up a “good school”.

But what about kindergarten-age children?

Yunchao Xu, principal engineer at Atelier Apeiron, believes that defining so-called “good schools”

also provides a kind of spatial discipline for children.

As a first step for children to enter society, kindergartens should be open and free.

Shenzhen Second Kindergarten was founded in 1982,

and is one of the first batch of public kindergartens in Shenzhen.

Schools have witnessed the growth of Shenzhen and form a large part of the childhood feelings and memories of the people of Shenzhen.

Due to the land limitations in the area, with a crowded surrounding environment,

and with limited investment in old buildings, people are beginning to question the importance of reconstruction.

In this context, Yunchao Xu took the opportunity to participate in kindergarten projects for the first time.

Calling this kindergarten design is the process of letting go of an architect’s obsession.
