The Beginning in Hidden Hills: A Shift from Moody to Colorful

The fall of 2016 marked a pivotal moment in model Kendall Jenner’s real estate journey when she invested $12 million in a luxurious Cape Cod-style mansion within the exclusive enclave of Hidden Hills. Built in 2015, this 13,200-square-foot home sits on 1.4 acres and features eight bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, providing ample space for family and guests.

In a previous statement, Jenner explained the philosophy behind her architectural shift, saying, “All of my previous homes were completely different, but they all shared a common theme: a youthful and somewhat dark aesthetic. But with this home, I wanted to move to the next level of fun, color, and authentic self-expression.”

A Creative Partnership with a Decorator: The Birth of an “Adult Home”

To realize this bold new vision, the youngest Kardashian-Jenner sister enlisted renowned interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard to transform the space into what he called her “first proper adult home.” Jenner expressed her vision for the project, stating, “I told Martyn I wanted fresh, fun vibes that truly reflected how I feel. Color was essential. I love pink, and I wanted a lot of it!”

This love of color was not just a passing aesthetic choice but extended to intricate interior design details. Jenner emphasized her desire for custom-built closets and a dressing room, tailored so that “every drawer was sized to fit my specific products and clothing.” Bullard described the final result as “charming yet utterly glamorous,” featuring a monochromatic living room inspired by old and new Hollywood, a dining room ceiling covered in gold leaf, and opulent fur bedspreads in the bedrooms.

A Family Surprise: Reshaping Spaces for a Child

Midway through the design process, Jenner received the happy news of her pregnancy with her partner, rapper Travis Scott. This family development required a swift adaptation of the design plan, as Jenner worked with Bullard to update and prepare the nursery and playroom. Jenner joked about this phase, saying, “The storm [of toys] definitely took over the house with her.” It is worth noting that Jenner still owns this property today.

Expansions and Real Estate Investments: The Adjacent Hidden Hills Lot

In 2017, Jenner appeared to be laying the groundwork for broader real estate expansion, purchasing a 1.37-acre lot adjacent to one of her Hidden Hills mansions for $5 million. According to media reports at the time, the plan was to convert this vacant land into a horse stable or lush gardens. However, neither of these visions materialized, as Jenner sold the undeveloped parcel just one year later for a slight profit of $5.5 million.

A New Chapter in Beverly Hills: The Search for a True Family Space

Instead of developing the land, 2018 brought a new family chapter when Jenner and Scott jointly purchased a $13.5 million luxury mansion in Beverly Hills. This investment came eight months after the birth of their daughter, Stormi, as they sought a more spacious living environment for their growing family.

This modern mansion was originally built in 1971 but underwent a complete renovation in 2016, giving it a fresh, contemporary identity. Situated at the end of a long, gated driveway, the home offers 6 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms spread across two floors, with a total living space of 9,680 square feet.

In contrast to the moody elegance of her previous home and the glamorous opulence of her Hidden Hills palace, the decor of this Beverly Hills home was characterized by warm, neutral colors, with touches of oak wood and sleek marble cabinetry in the kitchen. (Jenner maintained a dark pink hue for her personal room, confirming that she had not entirely abandoned her favorite color.)

After four years, the couple listed the mansion for sale in late 2022 with an asking price of $21.9 million. Facing challenges in finding a buyer, they reduced the price several times, eventually dropping it to $15.995 million in August 2024. Ultimately, the listing was withdrawn from the market entirely, and records indicate they still retain the property.

A Personal Sanctuary: Investing in an Exclusive Palm Springs Community

The city of Palm Springs holds a special place in the heart of the Kardashian-Jenner family, a fact well-known to their followers. It came as no surprise, then, when reports surfaced in 2019 that a trust linked to Jenner had invested $3.25 million in an undeveloped plot within the exclusive Madison Club community in La Quinta.

This lot, measuring just under an acre, is located about half a mile down the street from a modern, 11,000-square-foot residence purchased by her father, Caitlyn Jenner, the previous year. Reports at the time indicated ambitious plans to build a sprawling 15,000-square-foot, single-story home.

Bringing the Vision to Life: The Industrial Concrete Mansion

By 2023, Jenner was putting the finishing touches on her custom-built dream home. The vision had materialized into a reality: an industrial-style mansion built from concrete, spanning 15,500 square feet. This personal sanctuary features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and an infinity pool that blends seamlessly with the horizon.

The gated community where the mansion is located offers a wide range of luxury amenities, including tennis courts, a rustic clubhouse, a full fitness facility, gourmet restaurants, and high-level security, ensuring the privacy and safety of stars like Jenner.

The article traces the architectural and real estate evolution of a celebrity, highlighting the shift in her taste from a dark aesthetic to expressive spaces and the influence of family on housing decisions. The series of projects reveals a recurring pattern of short-term investment in luxurious residential units, raising questions about the stability of the residential vision versus its financial rationale. The design of the mansions relies on lavish square footage that exceeds basic functional needs, with a repetition of recreational elements like pools and community amenities that dilute the differentiation between projects. The Palm Springs project is finally distinguished by its clear material approach in using concrete as a primary material, creating a tangible dialogue with the surrounding desert environment.
