TerraViva has announced the launch of ‘La Juanita,’ an international architecture competition focused on designing a modern house that overlooks the stunning natural landscape of the Paraná River in Argentina. The competition will award up to €8,000 to the winners, chosen by an esteemed jury that includes Giancarlo Mazzanti (El Equipo Mazzanti), Virginia Theilig (FAPyD), Diego Arraigada (Diego Arraigada Arquitectos), and Luciana Lembo (Adamo-Faiden).

Competition Brief

The ‘La Juanita’ project invites architects and designers to reimagine contemporary Argentine homes as a serene riverside retreat. The design should accommodate a family of four, with additional space to host two guests. The home should provide privacy, comfort, and offer seamless connections with the natural surroundings, promoting a slower pace of life away from the city.

The layout of intimate and social spaces is flexible, and designers are invited to incorporate elements such as double-height spaces, terraces, galleries, and pergolas, which transition smoothly from indoor to outdoor environments. Emphasizing the views and integrating the landscape with the design is a key aspect. Consideration of sun exposure and topography is essential.
