Yesterday, Sunday, the Board of Directors of NEOM announced the sustainable regional development taking shape in northwestern Saudi Arabia.
Leyja is its newest tourist destination, which further enhances and enriches the eco-tourism offerings in the Kingdom.
Leyja is located in the city of NEOM, and is steeped in history and legends.
It begins from the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba and its attractive waters in the west.
It then turns inland to form a magnificent natural valley carved between 400-metre-high mountains and built over centuries by the power of nature and water.
Leyja builds on NEOM’s continued commitment to become a multi-faceted destination and supports the Kingdom’s efforts to build a strong and sustainable tourism industry in light of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
It is in line with NEOM’s strategy to allocate most of its lands across its destinations and cities as a natural reserve.
Leyja will be 95% nature-preserved and will combine innovative environmental design and construction techniques to ensure the development blends seamlessly into the landscape.
Design features
The three Leyja hotels have been intelligently and sensitively designed by world-leading architects to complement the nature around them, operate sustainably, and deliver outstanding experiences.
The three hotels will provide 120 elegant rooms and suites, divided equally with 40 keys in each.
The first hotel is specifically designed for active adventure, with the deconstructed design ascending the canyon walls like a staircase.
Its structure follows the terrain easily with minimal disturbance to the natural contours of the terrain.
Its unique location, tucked into the clifftop and valley sides,
lends itself to those looking for rock climbing and other high-octane experiences in the surrounding area.
As for the second hotel, it rises from the rock to occupy a prominent place in the heart of the largest oasis in the valley.
It serves as an enchanting gateway to discover and explore the valley that extends beyond it.
The impressive staircase that ascends from the valley to the entrance of the property is a journey of discovery, offering unparalleled views of the valley in all its beauty.
The third hotel is an immersive wellness retreat that promotes longevity,
with a high-tech reflective façade that reflects the surrounding beauty and valley walls.
It allows the natural passage of the valley through the center of the facility,
providing visitors with a unique and interactive experience.
A collection of upscale experiences and activities
Once developed, Leyja will offer a wide range of high-end experiences and activities,
Including fine dining and contemporary restaurants from world-famous chefs.
Wellness facilities and rooftop infinity pools at the three properties are also key features.
Extensive guided walking tours in the valley also await guests.
And charming hiking trails amidst the dramatic mountain landscape of the valley,
With mountain biking and climbing available for those seeking adventure.
Leyja is NEOM’s latest development project and comes after the announcement of the main areas of the projectو
Including the luxurious Sindalah Island; THE LINE is the cognitive linear city that represents the future of urban life.
Trogena, its year-round mountain destination and the first outdoor skiing experience in the GCC region;
and Oxagon, the reimagined industrial city and home to advanced, clean industries in NEOM.
