Programmatic Ingenuity: Vertical Expansion for Family Living

Tasked with housing a family of four on a modest budget, Heliotrope defied spatial limitations by designing a two-story structure with a loft. The ground floor dissolves into the landscape with open-plan communal areas, while private bedrooms retreat to the upper levels. A central staircase, illuminated by a strategically placed skylight, stitches the three levels together, flooding the home with natural light. The blackened exterior cladding reduces visual intrusion, allowing the home to recede into its forested backdrop a nod to the region’s vernacular architecture reinterpreted through a contemporary lens.
