Moiwa Aoki elected as new RIBA President,
Muyiwa Oki, an architect with Mace Group, has been elected as the next President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
Aoki, who received 49.28% of the vote in the second phase,
will become president-elect of the RIBA from September 1, 2022
and take over the presidency for a two-year term from incumbent President Simon Alford on September 1, 2023.
Focused on technology and innovation, Aoki works as an architect at Mace Group,
a global construction and consulting firm based in London, United Kingdom.

Moiwa Aoki was elected president of the RIBA,
following a campaign to speak out for architects of the future.
Throughout his career, Oakey has worked on large scale infrastructure projects,
such as HS2 Euston and the North London Heat and Power project.
During his time at Grimshaw Architects,
he was Founder and Chair of the Multi-Ethnic Group and Allies Network and led the cultural change of colleagues globally.
Working as an architect at Mace Group,
Aoki focused on technology and innovation, providing off-site manufactured solutions for major real estate public programs as a technical evaluation lead.
Muyiwa was an outside speaker and mentor to aspiring architects for the POCinArchitecture Program
and Scale Rule and the Grimshaw Foundation, all of which exist to encourage more social mobility within the industry.
Muyiwa presents at EDI Practice Clinics and speaks at RIBA seminars, events and radio shows.
Muyiwa also contributes to the next generation of architects as an ambassador for the Mayor of London: Design Future London Challenge.

The League stated that the participation rate in the presidential elections amounted to 12.4% (6020 votes).
