Nearby, nature is always near us and interacts with each other. As an example of this, in the past, our ancestors used natural stone as a cornerstone when building architecture, and built pillars by aligning the bottom of the tree with the surface of natural stone. This construction method originated from the viewpoint of not owning nature and balancing each other. In other words, our ancestors have tried to coexist in balance between nature and humans since ancient times. As such, we have been living our lives centered on nature, with an inherent attachment to nature and an instinct for regression. In order to express the table 'Nearby' derived from this background as a product design, we approached it in terms of materials and crafts.
Nearby, 자연은 항상 우리 가까이에 있고 서로 교감한다. 이에 관한 사례로는 과거 우리 선조들은 건물을 지을 때 주춧돌로 자연석을 활용하였고 나무 밑면을 자연석의 표면에 맞춰서 기둥을 세웠다. 이 건축공법은 자연을 소유하지 않고 서로 균형을 맞추는 관점에서 비롯된 거였다. 즉, 우리 선조들은 예로부터 자연과 인간의 균형을 맞춰 공존하려 했었다. 이처럼 우리는 자연에 대한 애착과 회귀 본능이 내재되어 있고 자연을 중심으로 삶을 살아왔다. 이러한 관점에서 자연과 함께 어우르는 제품이 균형 있는 삶을 만들어 준다고 생각하였다. 이 백그라운드에서 도출된 테이블 'Nearby' 를 하나의 제품 디자인으로써 표현하기 위해 재질과 공예적인 측면에서 접근하였다.
