NEOM, the rapidly developing sustainable region in northwest Saudi Arabia, has announced a significant collaboration with Asas Al-Mohileb to set up and manage a ready-mix concrete facility valued at SAR 700 million. This multi-plant factory is primarily focused on producing concrete that will support the construction of THE LINE, a revolutionary linear city currently being developed within NEOM.
Asas Al-Mohileb’s Role in the Project
Asas Al-Mohileb, a prominent construction and engineering firm in Saudi Arabia, is actively working on establishing a complex of batching plants in NEOM. With their extensive experience in the industry, Asas Al-Mohileb will oversee the operation of the facility, which has the capability to generate over 20,000 cubic meters of environmentally friendly ready-mix concrete each day.
Statements from NEOM and Asas Al-Mohileb CEOs
Nadhmi Al-Nasr, the CEO of NEOM, emphasized the significance of this development, stating, “The establishment of these concrete plants is yet another indication of the swift advancements taking place at NEOM. This initiative not only highlights the robustness of the Kingdom’s construction sector but also showcases the vital role that local partnerships play in the efficient and sustainable realization of this transformative project. We take pride in collaborating with local contractors and value their contributions to the progress of NEOM, which aims to become a center for local industry leaders and entrepreneurs in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.”
Sulaiman Al-Mohileb, CEO of Al-Mohileb, further elaborated on the partnership’s significance, saying, “This collaboration reinforces our commitment to fostering economic growth in the Kingdom by implementing the latest technologies and innovative construction methodologies. We are devoted to embracing sustainable practices that resonate with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to empower the manufacturing sector and elevate its role in the broader developmental objectives of the Kingdom.”
Sustainability and Operational Details
This state-of-the-art concrete production facility will utilize carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technology along with energy-efficient solutions. The majority of the output from this facility is designated for the construction of THE LINE. As concrete is a fundamental material for both the substructure and superstructure of THE LINE, the factory is poised to begin operations next month with a fleet of support vehicles already mobilized. Peak operational activity is expected to commence in 2025, and the facility is projected to create over 500 jobs for the local community.
Construction Progress on THE LINE
The establishment of this plant coincides with the rapid progress of construction on THE LINE, where work on the foundation piles has already commenced, with nearly 1,000 out of more than 30,000 piles completed to date.
