The National Engineering Services Company of Pakistan (NESPAK) has successfully been awarded a project worth SAR 46.5 million ($12.5 million) for Saudi Arabia’s ambitious NEOM initiative.
A senior representative from NESPAK confirmed yesterday, Tuesday, that work on the project is scheduled to begin in the near future.
The city of NEOM, which is located in the northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is expected to be
A sprawling economic zone that will accommodate millions of people in the coming years.
With an estimated budget exceeding $500 billion, Saudi Arabia envisions NEOM as a symbol of architectural innovation and a showcase of global ambition.
This project plays a pivotal role in the vision of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman 2030.
It is a strategic development framework that aims to diversify the country’s economy beyond its dependence on oil.
NEOM is also scheduled to host “The Line,” a carbon-neutral city extending over 170 kilometers.
It is designed to accommodate one million residents in “carbon-positive urban projects powered by 100% clean energy.”
Agreement to provide construction management services to the economic zone
NESPAC signed an agreement to provide construction management services for the economic zone two weeks ago, said the company’s vice president of business development, Ahmed Saeed.
He added that the project budget amounts to 46.5 million Saudi riyals ($12.5 million), equivalent to 3.794 billion rupees.
Adding that it was awarded by the Saudi Electricity Company with a special focus on the energy sector in NEOM.
Saeed revealed that NESPAK will provide construction management services for Extra High Voltage (EHV) and High Voltage (HV) projects.
and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) in various areas including NEOM Bay,
NEOM Mountain, and the second phase of NEOM. Adding that work on the project is scheduled to begin “soon.”
In a statement issued last week, NESPAK emphasised that winning the project was a clear confirmation of the company’s “technical excellence and unwavering commitment”.
She added that this achievement also symbolizes a major achievement for an Asian company in a region that was usually dominated by European and Western companies.
NEOM designs extend over vast areas
According to the NESPAK statement, the grand designs of NEOM extend over a wide range of regions, and include a floating industrial complex,
A global business hub, luxury tourist resorts, and a cutting-edge linear city powered by sustainable renewable energy sources.
The Pakistani engineering company has maintained a significant presence in the Middle East,
Including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Nigeria, Yemen and Iraq,
It also maintained a foothold in Afghanistan.
NESPAK made its initial foray into Saudi Arabia independently in 1978 by forming a joint venture with the Riyadh Development Authority.
In 1982, the company established its regional office in Riyadh and began cooperating with many Saudi institutions.
Whether in terms of acquiring business or providing consulting services in the Kingdom.
According to its website, NESPAK has succeeded in securing 126 projects worth $22 billion in Saudi Arabia.
