In a recent announcement, Japanese hospitality brand NOT A HOTEL revealed its latest venture in central Tokyo, developed in partnership with Pharrell Williams and NIGO. The project, titled JAPA VALLEY TOKYO, is set to open temporarily in 2027, just steps away from Yurakucho Station, and offers a cultural experience inspired by California’s Napa Valley—but reimagined through a contemporary Japanese lens.

Temporary Urban Space in a Strategic Location

Spanning one hectare, JAPA VALLEY will be located within YURAKUCHO PARK, a temporary urban site currently being developed by Mitsubishi Estate. The space is intended to host dynamic cultural and social programming until the company begins construction on a larger urban complex planned for the same site.

In the heart of Tokyo, this temporary space will become a new cultural destination called JAPA VALLEY in 2027.

A Vibrant Blend of Art, Fashion, and Food

The project aims to create an immersive, ever-changing destination that celebrates creativity and cultural diversity. It will feature original artwork by KAWS, in addition to event spaces and a rotating collection of pop-up shops centered on art, fashion, and Japanese cuisine. The environment is designed to foster interaction, exploration, and community engagement.

Creative Vision Driven by Global Icons

Pharrell Williams and NIGO were recently appointed as creative advisors to NOT A HOTEL, and this new project is one of the first fruits of that collaboration. The announcement follows the launch of other unconventional venues by the brand, including a circular villa designed by Sou Fujimoto on Ishigaki Island, and the NOT A HOTEL Setouchi project on Sagi Island, designed by Danish firm BIG.
