Open call: international architectural competition for reconstruction of Railway Station, Central Station Square and Public transport terminal in Vilnius, Lithuania

Home » Competitions » Open call: international architectural competition for reconstruction of Railway Station, Central Station Square and Public transport terminal in Vilnius, Lithuania
Vilnius city municipality, along side Lithuanian Railways (LTG), have just announced an open international architectural competition for reconstruction of railroad station , Central Station Square and conveyance terminal in Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania.

The participants will need to create an iconic and globally recognizable international railroad station project, offer a conveyance service infrastructure that might represent Lithuania and Vilnius in compliance with the very best quality standards, form a beautiful station square, and offer a thought for a viable and connecting Station district urban centre.
The entries are going to be evaluated by a world jury, prevailed by professional architects and concrete planners.
Our goal is that a person who arrives by train or bus to the town immediately sees that it’s a vibrant city of the longer term , and once they step into the station square or street, they’re going to feel that the town is cozy, green, and galvanizing .
Projects for the reconstruction of stations within the world’s capital cities usually happen just one occasion during a century, so this is often a historic opportunity to define a vision for future generations. The partnership between the town and therefore the businesses for regeneration of the station district reflects our determination to open up previously closed industrial spaces for the town and to adapt them for the people. Here we would like to make such spaces that correspond to the simplest samples of Western European railway stations, and therefore the station wouldn’t only be a start or the top point of travel, but also a replacement attraction centre with leisure and repair spaces, comfortable connections for pedestrians, cyclists, and everybody choosing comfortable and eco-friendly trips by train.
