Re‑Gen Gorizia Competition 2025
Competition Brief
The Re‑Gen Gorizia Competition 2025 is an international architecture and urban design contest, which invites participants to give their vision of a new district for the Sant’Anna area، the largest residential area in Gorizia, Italy، as a contemporary living model. The main issues to be dealt with are to re-establish the area’s identity, to unite the spaces that have been cut off from one another, to go beyond the problem of accessibility, and to apply the aforementioned design techniques to build parks and open areas accordingly, all this, of course, through sustainability and inclusiveness.
Intent
The aim of the competition is to find out how the combination of design, ecology, and community can bring about the transformation of urban areas that are not well-used. It is a competition of ideas where visions are discussed that view the Sant’Anna area as not being out of the way but rather a place for trial and error in the fields of urban innovation and the drawing of a new public life.
Purpose
The objective is to produce a master plan that provides the area with a unified identity, highly interconnected district, and a full range of sustainable mobility solutions that integrate walking, cycling, and green networks.
Requirements
The contest is opened to the whole creative world that consists of students, architects, designers, artists, engineers, and urban planners, as well as others who are professionals by their creativity and innovation. The competition is open to individuals as well as groups. The submissions must consist of three A1 panels (594 × 841 mm landscape) and a short descriptive text presenting the idea.

✦ ArchUp Competition Review
The Re‑Gen Gorizia Competition 2025 is a contest held by the local authorities of Gorizia, Italy, and it has a partial transparency regarding the jury, as the description clarifies professional expertise but not individual names. It is a competition focused on the professional and academic fields rather than a promotional exercise, seeking masterplans and design strategies for the Sant’Anna district. The prizes are moderate, offering recognition rather than substantial financial reward. Even the jury’s expert opinion in the fields of architecture, urban planning, and community integration can only support through credible evaluation of submissions the quality of participants’ input.
Conclusion
The Re‑Gen Gorizia Competition 2025 is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to consider an entire district anew, taking into account its socio-cultural environment. A diverse jury, and clear goals of sustainability, connectivity, and community regeneration, the competition invites participants to unleash their creative design, and to interweave their practical strategies into the complex urban questions so that real-world transformation can be guided.
