Our Actions Today, Our Future Tomorrow
Santa Monica High School
For this project, I partnered up with GOOD & Upworthy, the City of Santa Monica, and Santa Monica High School to create this mural celebrating the city's sustainability efforts. This was such an exciting opportunity to do something at a large scale, the wall itself was 7' x 100'.
The idea for this mural was to demonstrate the sustainability goals of the city and inspire a hopeful vision for the future, showing tangible ways that people can make an impact.
Focusing on the three pillars of sustainability (economic, social, and environmental), I came up with different ways to visualize a community coming together. Here I pitched three different visual concepts. One using a grid format to reference a long comic strip, an option made up of a lot of small vignettes, and one seamless narrative which ended up being the one we went with.
Once the direction was chosen, I did a color study before taking a trip to match all the paint swatches.
