Introduction to the Project
VA Tech Wabag, in partnership with Mutlaq Al Ghowairi Contracting (MGC), has successfully secured a contract worth $371 million (Rs32.5 billion) from Al Haer Environmental Services. This contract covers engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for a 200,000-cu-m sewage plant located in Saudi Arabia. Project Scope and Significance
As part of the contract, Wabag will act as the technology partner and EPC leader. They will oversee the design and construction of the sewage plant. Meanwhile, MGC will handle the laying of transmission pipelines and the construction of reservoirs. This is part of the Sewage Treatment Plant Construction in Saudi Arabia project. The project also includes the installation of connections to outfall delivery facilities to ensure efficient wastewater processing.

The sewage treatment facility is being developed by a consortium. This consortium comprises Saudi-based Miahona Company, Marafiq, and Belgian contractor NV Besix SA. Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) is serving as the principal off-taker. SWPC plays a pivotal role in developing water and wastewater projects across the kingdom. This project further cements Wabag’s presence in the Middle East. It reinforces their leadership in the region. Earlier this year, Wabag secured a contract for a 20,000-cu-m industrial wastewater treatment plant at Ras Tanura Refinery Complex in Saudi Arabia. This was awarded by Miahona Company. This is an extension of their ongoing commitment to projects like the Wastewater Treatment Facility Development in Saudi Arabia.
