Seymour Powell investigates how technology and artificial intelligence will assist future workout environments and offer linked workouts at home.

As the fitness sector adjusts to the reality of coexisting with a worldwide pandemic, Seymourpowell, a strategic design, and innovation consultancy, has developed a smart gym mat concept. It explores how technology and artificial intelligence may support future exercise environments.

With many consumers increasingly resorting to innovative methods of staying healthy at home, the coronavirus has fundamentally changed how we work out and what we want from a fitness setting. The smart gym mat was developed as a component of Seymour Powell’s 66 Days of Change study. Which polled 250 participants on their experiences working out during a lockdown. It is a linked surface that “speaks” to the other smart home items.

Moreover, the mat intends to uncover the rich experiential possibilities of smart technology in training contexts outside of the gym by gathering user data and working in tandem with virtual and social platforms.

Additionally, with the use of Seymourpowell’s smart gym mat, customers are able to evaluate their current exercise routines at home. Therefore, it allows them to exercise with friends, engage in one-on-one fitness sessions, and get support and coaching from instructors.

Adaptive Sensors

The mat has sensors that track a user’s location, weight, speed, and power, enabling instructors to give guidance.

Electronic Twin

We can envision how a digital twin—a dataset that replicates a person’s physical capabilities—and artificial intelligence may assist your twin move more precisely and provide that information back to a coach using the data collected by the sensors.

Furthermore, this can assist one-on-one sessions or function as a component of a virtual class where the trainer may handle something akin to a “mission control” from a distance.

Class Attraction

The virtual link provided by the mat also enables live, one-time broadcasting. Coaches would be able to offer tailored guidance based on these experiences and the feedback received from mission control and the smart mat. Also, guest teachers might serve as the centerpiece of exclusive, ticketed, social gym events by tapping into audiences that mix up their gym experiences via apps like Classpass.

Gamification

A social platform will give the home gym life through live link-up and conversation rooms, much like in video games. Sharing our workouts with friends and family forces us to evaluate our performance more carefully. We get encouragement when we attempt something new and when we complete a challenging exercise.

Setups for Connected Homes

Finally, virtual gym software would interact with the smart house as smart features proliferate in the home. This allows users to raise the temperature, lower the lights, and select a meditative yoga song. The system might make the lighting brighter, lower the temperature, and play music with increased vigor during a HIIT session.
