SAVA, a design consultancy based in Malaysia and Vietnam,

designed a cosmetics showroom with a bubble-like façade.

Which will serve as farmers in the city center of Vinh, Vietnam.

The building is called the Thavi Cosmetic Showroom.

It is the conversion and renovation of an existing three-storey retail building,

to an attractive and eye-catching cosmetics showroom that will house a spa for luxury and beauty.

The original building was built in the early 2000s for the purpose of selling electrical and domestic appliances.

Later, the client commissioned SAVA to renovate and renovate the building into a luxury and beauty spa.

According to the company, the project brief was to create an interface that could be “attractive and attractive”.

Located in the center of Vinh City, the existing buildings in Vinh City are usually built in haste without much concern for luxury.

Or they are simply copied from European colonial styles.

Through this proposal, SAVA aims to interpret local tropical architecture relevant to the local culture and climate.

According to the designers, the abundance of natural light and greenery within each space were the main features.

To create an attractive façade, the company created a solution using fiber reinforced concrete (FRP) to act as planters as the façade of the building.

The planters are designed in modules for higher quality and to handle a fast manufacturing process,

The company has improved the modules for easy transportation using standard trucks available in Vietnam.

Design features

“In order to introduce natural light into the building,

the proposal proposes demolishing the existing staircase and partial floor slab in the center of the building to create an atrium with a skylight above it,” SAVA said.

“This will brighten the darkest recesses in the building.

In addition, a curved metal staircase was proposed in the lobby to replace the existing staircase,

strategically located around a green central courtyard.

Moreover, the studio applied the same strategy in the back side of the building,

This allowed natural light to enter from the front and back facades, as well as from the roof.

In addition, the studio will replace the existing corrugated roof to accommodate a bright rooftop café and dining space.
