A vacation home inspired by the Disney fairy tale movie Snow White is set to go on the market for $11 million.
The home, modeled after Saint-Malo in France, was built by a businessman commissioned to organize the 1984 Olympic Games.
The cottage-like home in Oceanside, San Diego, was the vacation property of the late businessman John Hotchkiss.
John co-founded the asset management firm Hotchkis & Wiley and built the property in the 1990s as a retreat for his multigenerational family.
Hotchkiss, who was also tasked with organizing the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles
and held numerous civic leadership positions, died in 2017.

The house is located in an 85-home gated community that hosted numerous businessmen and celebrities
including Prince Philip during the 1984 Olympics, according to a press release.
It was designed to resemble the castle-like coastal town of Saint-Malo in Normandy, France.
and features a courtyard in the center of the building.
Many of the homes in the Oceanside community have been passed down through generations of prominent families in Pasadena and San Marino.
A Very Luxurious Cottage
The area is home to many of the most luxurious homes, including the Hotchkiss home.
John Hotchkiss’s wife, Joan Hotchkiss, a former executive at Sotheby’s, is selling the house.
Now living in their main home in Bel Air.
she said they bought the vacation home from family friends before remodeling.
Hotchkiss said it was a happy place for her husband
: “He would stand alone on the beach with a hook in the surf, hoping to catch something.”
Crowded Thanksgivings were also among her other primary memories of her picturesque coastal retreat, which featured turrets and a courtyard.
“Unfortunately, our family is now scattered,” said Joan, who has four children and eight grandchildren.

The master bedroom features high ceilings with coffered ceilings and fireplaces for a relaxing family time. Each bedroom has French doors and a brick patio overlooking the beach with panoramic ocean views.
