Abax integrates Mesa de Gallos into the lake town’s topography
Abax constructs ‘Mesa de Gallos’, a residence that fully integrates into its vast natural environment using regional materials and reinterpreting classic elements. Located on the outskirts of Valle de Bravo, Mexico, the project takes advantage of the forest and the site topography forming a structure that extends multiple levels tracing the terrain. drawing from the architecture of Mexican haciendas, the house shapes solid volumes, long corridors, and patios generating a constant dialogue between classic elements and contemporary solutions. With the architectural program distributed along with the natural slope, the arrangement is perceived as a series of pavilions with circulations contained by the natural vegetation of the property.

facades and flooring apply Local quartered stone
The design team at Abax attends to the users’ need for open spaces dedicated to family gatherings, assembling several spacious living areas without divisions or partitions. In the social area, the black steel gate opens completely to allow a connection with the forest, as well as natural lighting. The black steel fireplaces hold the focal point of the social areas and match the doors’ materiality. The private spaces have strategic openings towards the landscape to control the degree of privacy. Local stone is used on the facades and floors, applied through a quartering technique, generating an essence of sophistication and simplicity. Mesa de Gallos stands fully integrated into nature, thanks to the use of regional materials and the reinterpretation of classic elements, allowing users to enjoy its vast natural environment.
