The Architecture of Transition: Emergent Practices in South Asia

“The Architecture of Transition: Emergent Practices in South Asia” will convene young practices that have displayed a rigorous engagement in making architecture in the public realm and in response to the spectrum of issues that societies in acute transition are experiencing. This online lecture series will take place over the next year beginning on September 17, 9 am EST.

This lecture series also marks the beginning of a broader project. “The State of Architecture in South Asia,” will research, document, and create conversations around Architecture in South Asia and the emergent frameworks and models of practice. This multi-year project will ask the fundamental questions:

+ What will be the form of practice of Architecture in South Asia for the next generation?
+ Can Architecture address the abject inequities in this region?
+ What does Architecture practice in South Asia mean for women?
+ Does Architecture matter in geographies in transition?

We hope you can attend this lecture series and, through your participation, support the broader research project to build a platform that engages with questions about the making of Architecture in the region.

This project is initiated and supported by The Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute (LMSAI), Graduate School of Design (GSD), Architecture Foundation, and The South Asia GSD Student Group.
