The National Gallery is seeking a multi-disciplinary design team to figure with it on a set of capital projects to mark its bicentenary, its 200th anniversary, with an initial phase to be opened in 2024.

The NG200 Project will enable the National Gallery to redefine its visitor experience – improving the ‘welcome’ the Gallery provides to its many visitors in order that this lives up to the standard of its collection – considered by many the foremost perfect within the world.

The design brief focuses on the doorway spaces within the Grade I Listed Sainsbury Wing and also includes the creation of a replacement Research Centre within the main Wilkins Building, and reimagining the connection between the Gallery and therefore the public realm.

This two-stage selection process will identify an exceptional design team who can work with the Gallery to develop an architectural vision and conceptual approach to a phased five-year programme of works. the primary stage is an open, international involve architect-led, multi-disciplinary design teams to demonstrate their relevant skills and knowledge .

The deadline for first stage responses is 14:00 GMT Thursday 18 March 2021.
