Competition Overview

The competition invites both local and international teams, ideally led by landscape architects, to establish design guidelines that will enhance connectivity and livability for the 55,000 future residents and 23,000 workers of YZD. The Runway will not only act as a vital pedestrian corridor but will also become a community hub with spaces for recreation, culture, and social interaction.

Significance of the Project

This design competition offers participants the chance to contribute to a landmark project that will set an international standard for placemaking and the adaptive reuse of industrial spaces. The YZD project is part of a 30-year transformation that will see the creation of over 28 million sq. ft. of residential space, 7 million sq. ft. of commercial and cultural areas, and 74 acres of parks and green spaces.

Esteemed Jury

The jury, led by renowned urban designer Ken Greenberg, comprises a diverse group of experts in urban design, development, and placemaking, ensuring that the submissions will be rigorously evaluated for innovation and sustainability.

Submissions for expressions of interest are due by November 22, 2024.
