Time Space Existence Returns for Its 7th Edition: Architectural Visions Bridging Reform and Innovation
Venice Hosts Global Architecture Event in November 2025
The 7th edition of the international exhibition “Time Space Existence”, organized by the European Cultural Centre (ECC), returns to Venice from November 23, 2025. Held across four historic venues—Palazzo Mora, Palazzo Bembo, Palazzo Michiel, and Marinaressa Gardens—the exhibition will feature 207 participants from 52 countries, reinforcing its role as a global platform for architectural dialogue and experimentation.

Reform, Renewal, Reuse: The 2025 Vision
This year’s theme, “Reform, Renewal, Reuse”, invites architects, designers, artists, and researchers to present works that merge speculative proposals, academic research, and built interventions. Highlights include:
- A net-zero housing prototype by Holcim and Elemental (led by Alejandro Aravena).
- “Sombra”, a kinetic light-responsive pavilion by MVRDV.
- Notable contributions from Zaha Hadid Architects, Adjaye Associates, and Korean architect Moon Hoon.

From Crisis to Solutions: Architecture as a Tool for Change
The exhibition emphasizes tangible responses to climate and social crises, such as:
- Vuild Architecture’s project addressing rural decline in Japan using local forests and digital fabrication.
- Semillas’ initiative empowering Amazonian communities through participatory design.
- Blending Inuit traditional knowledge with modern techniques in Blouin Orzes’ Canadian project.

Reimagining the Future: Between Reality and Speculation
The show also explores speculative designs, including:
- Collectif Carré Noir’s vision for regional reorganization.
- Indigenous-led design methodologies in films by TU Delft.

Key Projects Across Venetian Venues
- Marinaressa Gardens: Features Holcim/Elemental’s low-carbon housing and MVRDV’s interactive “Sombra” installation.
- Palazzo Mora: Showcases Semillas’ Amazonian community projects.
- Material Reuse: Highlights include Coburg University’s “waste wood” pavilion and Gras & Huguet’s recycled terrazzo experiments.

Architecture as a Catalyst for Change
The exhibition concludes by framing architecture as a driver of sustainability and equity, as noted by Rachele de Stefano (ECC):
“The show doesn’t just ask what architecture is—it redefines what it could be: a tool for reform and resilience.”
✦ ArchUp Editorial Insight
Time Space Existence 2025 offers a compelling vision of architecture addressing climate, heritage, and societal challenges through projects blending innovation and tradition. However, questions remain about the practical scalability of some solutions beyond theoretical frameworks. Despite this, the exhibition succeeds as a critical global dialogue hub, particularly by showcasing diverse contributions from Europe, Asia, and Latin America. Its emphasis on circular design, indigenous knowledge, and adaptive reuse sets a benchmark for future discourse. For architects and policymakers alike, this iteration reaffirms the discipline’s potential to bridge idealism and actionable change making it indispensable for shaping tomorrow’s built environment.
