Verallia Design Awards is now open for entries!

Verallia Design Awards: Verallia, a global player in glass packaging, recently has been organized a design competition inviting all students or young graduates in design, packaging, and also plastic arts schools to imagine an innovative project of bottles or glass jars around a defined theme.

About Competition

Since 2009, Verallia, a global player in glass packaging, has been organizing a design competition that brings together several hundred participants each year.

This competition offers you to imagine an innovative project of bottles or glass jars around a defined theme.

Additionally, Verallia positions itself as an incubator of the project which may have a chance to be marketed.

This year’s theme is “The Glass to live the moment”.

Moreover, between creativity and authenticity, glass brings together the beautiful and the commonplace: it has created, over the millennia, a unique emotional bond with the consumer. A bond renewed today in the recycling chain and its ecological advantages.

Each candidate will be able to invent a glass bottle or jar, making the most of the creative possibilities offered by the material glass.

Furthermore, surfing on the trend of slowing down and searching for well-being, organizers propose you create containers (bottles and jars) that are inspired by nature (biomimicry) and provide sensations of peace and serenity (by their shape, their finishes, or their colors).

This theme applies to all markets: still and sparkling wines, spirits, beer, water and non-alcoholic beverages, and food.

For general categories (Still and sparkling wine / Spirits / Beer / Food), at the end of April, an internal committee composed of Verallia engineering, production, trade, and marketing people makes a pre-selection of the projects. Shortlisted projects will be then submitted to an online vote, opened in May, to Verallia customers and employees as well as packaging agencies and journalists. This online vote will be followed by a debate with a physical jury.

The winners will be notified after the jury deliberation in late May, ahead of the award ceremony, so that Verallia has time to make a realistic model of their projects (made of glass in the best case, or Plexiglass or Pyrex or so). Additionally, to achieve this model, a 3D plan is necessary. The models’ production is ensured by the Verallia design office and its network, with the laureates’ approval.

The award ceremony for the 6th Verallia Design Awards 2023 will take place at the end of June 2023.
