The W Awards return this year and are in collaboration with The Architectural Review and the Architects’ Journal. These awards honor the work of women and non-binary individuals, be it celebrated lifetime achievements or projects of promising future significance, large buildinsg or contributions to architectural culture in general.
There are three categories open for entries:
Moira Gemmill Prize for Emerging Architecture: Open to female and non-binary practice founders who were born after 1 January 1979 and are below the age of 45, this category is accessible to anyone from any part of the globe.
MJ Long Prize for Excellence in Practice: This category is designated for UK-based female and non-binary architects who are currently employed in the field of architecture and have been the project architect for a building that has been completed within the last two years.
Prize for Research in Gender and Architecture: Under this category, individuals or collectives from all over the world are allowed to explore the relation between space and gender and sexuality in research projects. This is open to individuals of any gender.
Submitting an entry to the awards is simple and straightforward. You can either enter yourself in a category or nominate someone else.
Four reasons to enter
- Entrance is free of charge.
- Both the Architectural Review and Architects’ Journal editorial teams will be assessing the applicants.
- Shortlisted architects will present their projects to a global judging panel.
- All shortlisted people, projects, and practices will be showcased in the Architectural Review and Architects’ Journal.
