Building as landscape
The goal of this project was to create a solution to the under-used industrial area of West Savannah. The project intent was to take over the riverfront space on the west side and develop it for the locals. The tourist of Savannah essentially “own” the existing riverfront space just east of the design site. The local students and professionals of the area need a space along the river that they can call their own. The design strategy was to create a flowing fabric of landscape and building from existing hot spots in the city to the new riverfront space. The flowing fabric would also allow for elevated walkways, encouraging pedestrian and bicycle travel.
