UPDATE FROM UIA“The International Union of Architects (UIA) and the Brazilian Institute of Architects (IAB) today announced that the 27th World Congress of Architects – UIA2020RIO would be postponed. Initially scheduled for July 19 – 23, 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, it will now be held on July 18 – 22, 2021.”

When we open the registration for the 27th World Congress of Architects UIA 2020 RIO, i’m pleased to ask architects and concrete planners from everywhere the planet to hitch us in Rio de Janeiro, the Marvelous City.

Architects from all continents, urban thinkers, researchers, university students, builders, society and youth movements, technology and systems companies, academic and multilateral institutions, political and country representations, under the unique Rio scenario, are invited to match experiences associated with the development of the space of social life. With architecture and urbanism as catalysts, we’ll debate and formulate proposals for the longer term of cities.

“All the Worlds. Just on ne World. Architecture 21.” is that the theme that structures the 2020 programming, in tune with the goals of the UN and UNESCO. It are often known during this same site, along side the four thematic axes that complement it.

The World Congress will happen within the Center of Rio de Janeiro, the historical site of the town , which can hold an architectural patrimony spanning four and a half centuries. This heritage includes magnificent examples from the Colonial Architecture to the Contemporary Architecture, where stands out one among the foremost important buildings of recent Architecture, the previous Ministry of Education and Culture, today Palazzo Capanema. Designed in 1936 by the team of then young architects, Lucio Costa, Oscar Niemeyer, Jorge Moreira, Afonso Reidy, Ernani Vasconcelos and Carlos Leão, under the first risk of Le Corbusier , Capanema Palace are going to be one among the headquarters of the 27th World Congress of Architects.

A capital schedule is under development, including the participation of quite 100 speakers, also as workshops, roundtables, materials and systems fair, international undergraduate competition, international awards for architecture projects, urbanism and landscaping , among other activities.
