Acorn is a modular baby-food preparation tool that makes the parent’s outdoor eating experience better. The solution combines functionality and aesthetics for baby-food preparation out of the home. Acorn composed of a minipimer, steamer, and food container. The shape of Acorn is inspired by the Oak fruit of Acorn that brings friendly and cute language. The tools are very flexible and can be switched easily for different needs. With the modular design, Acorn can easily stack each other and transport food out of the home.

Project Challenge
–
The project challenge is to design a new product family for managing the preparation of food for the baby out of home, starting from the beginning of the weaning moment, up to the introduction of “adult” food, and potentially even after, with different functions. The product should be easily used during the different weaning stages, that means, it should manage different quantities and different kind of baby-food.
01 Steamer
–
To easily cook food outside, parents can use a steamer module which allows parents to cook the baby-food ingredient with a cup of water. The steamer can cook the vegetable, heating the ready meal, and warming up different baby beverages. The bottom of the container has a rubber piece that can be pulled out for leaving the venting hole while parents steaming the food.
02 Minipimer

With the minipimer module, parents can blend ingredients without any stress that makes the outdoor food preparation much simpler and easier whenever they need.
03 Food Container
–
The Acorn set has several BPA-free sealed jars and lids. After processing the baby food, parents are able to change the cap on the processor into the body of the jar. The volume of the jar is small and compacted, it's easy to store and carry on. Moreover, it is able to turn into a temporary bowl for feeding your baby.
Easy to carry out
–
Thanks to the Acorn shape, the product can easily stack one on top of the other, the shape also makes the base more stable when the parents use it outside.
Design Process
–
In our design process, we have deeply focused on the proportion, technical constraints, and each small detail to make Acorn the perfect baby-food preparation KIT. Considering this baby product will use in different environments starting from home to the park, all the moments are crucial, the product needs to guarantee security, bumping resistance, and also reach food safety we chose the food-grade PC plastic to keep bacteria away from babies.
Packaging
–
After the industrial design for the baby-food preparation KIT, we think it could be nice to complete this design concept with unique packaging. The graphic of this packaging is inspired by the crayon drawing that reminds our childhood. By adding the UV layer, we can easily highlight the graphic's details and elevate the packaging's quality.
