Oldham College is looking for a dedicated and innovative Head of DepartmentConstruction and Motor Vehicle to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with the Director to realise Oldham College’s vision and strategic priorities by leading a dynamic team and ensuring exceptional educational standards and positive outcomes for our learners. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop the Department’s staff and resources, supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver an engaging, high-quality curriculum that prepares learners for apprenticeships, employment, or further education.
  • Ensure outstanding performance, from learner outcomes to staff performance, aligning with college objectives and government priorities.
  • Build relationships with employers, stakeholders, and the community to enhance curriculum offerings, work experience opportunities, and employability skills.
  • Oversee financial and volume targets, ensuring effective resource allocation and budget management.
  • Promote a high standard of teaching and learning, leading by example and supporting team development.

Who We’re Looking For:

The ideal candidate will be an inspiring and experienced leader with:

  • A relevant degree and significant sector experience in a field aligned with the Department’s focus.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to complete this within two years).
  • Proven experience in curriculum development, leading team performance, and managing resources effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of FE sector priorities, qualification reforms, and funding requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and engage staff and students alike.
  • A creative and problem-solving mindset, adaptable to the evolving educational landscape.
