✦ ArchUp Competition Review

The Barcelona Concéntrico x Cruïlla 2026 competition is organised by the Concéntrico and Cruïlla festival teams, with a jury including curators and external architecture experts, offering moderate transparency. The professional design opportunity requires temporary stage design work, which does not match typical architectural design competitions. The contest provides ₠12,000 design fees together with production budgets that reach up to ₠35,000, which reflects the project complexity and actual execution costs. The competition provides participants with practical experience and visibility through built installations, making it more than a conceptual exercise. The jury combines two expert domains to evaluate projects through their artistic and architectural expertise.

Conclusion

Barcelona Concéntrico x Cruïlla 2026 offers a rare chance to merge architecture, culture, and public engagement. The competition requires participants to develop their creativity and social interaction skills through their research on temporary stage design. The open call shows how architectural designs can create cultural experiences, while clearer submission guidelines help entrants to understand the submission process better.
