Mohammed bin Salman has said that NEOM – arguably the world’s largest and most controversial architectural project –

will have the capacity to house 450,000 people by 2026 and nine million by 2045.

Boskalis participates in Neom

Boskalis won a contract to develop the Red Sea port to serve the new future city.

The company said that the Dutch giant won two weeks ago

“an important contract to develop a port on the Red Sea coast in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a first step in developing a new futuristic city.”

The dredging scope will be carried out using a huge cutter suction dredger,

and this project is expected to be completed by mid-2025.

Include a number of regions

NEOM will consist of a number of districts – including The Line, the clean and advanced industries hub Oxagon,

the mountain destination Trojena and the luxury resort of Sindalah.

Oxagon is planned as an octagonal coastal city to be built on the Red Sea in the far south of the Neum region.

According to the developer of NEOM, the port and logistics center will be “the largest floating structure in the world.”

Trogina is planned as a ski resort in the Sarawat Mountains, near the north of the Neum region.

The 60-square-kilometer ski and outdoor resort will offer skiing year-round and is set to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games.

Sandala is also planned as an island resort within the Red Sea.

This 840,000 square meter island is aimed at the yachting community, and includes 86 berths and several hotels.

NEOM is also operating on ambitious timelines, with a large portion of the project set to be built by 2030.

The first component slated for completion is the luxurious Sindalah Island, where the NEOM developer aims to welcome its first guests in early 2024.

The coastal city of Oxagon will follow shortly after,

with the first residents scheduled to move in by 2024 and the onshore part of the city due to be completed by 2030.
