An exhibition based on the studies of Los Angeles Chinatown will be at 949 Chung King Road. The exhibition showcases different series of works done by Chieh-Ting Chuang.
Chinatown is a recognizable architectural style in every major city. This strong adaptive trait of Chinatown can not only be transformed into exterior spaces. But also carried to interior domesticities. While the creation of the original Chinatowns is all based on the autonomy of the builder and owners of the era. Therefore, this project explores freedom using modern technology and media.

“Wrapping follies” is inspired by the over-simplified architectural style of LA Chinatown. She uses modern technologies to alter the photographs of the selected façade in Chinatown. And wrap the re-composed image onto world-renowned masterpieces to represent a new way of perceiving architecture.
“#Chinatown@Home” is a complete package of digital product design requiring users to 3D scan their dwelling and they will enjoy transforming their home into a self-designed “Chinatown” using the building simulation app. Along with the printed catalog and advertisement everywhere, it will guide the user to transform the dwelling into a different style and bring the Chinatown atmosphere to their own interior space. A VR component allows the users to explore the space they created and interact with the object they designed.
