LAYER introduces the Connectivity Concept, a collection of six diverse devices created in conjunction with Deutsche Telekom Design.
In partnership with Deutsche Telekom Design, Benjamin Hubert of LAYER designed ‘Connectivity Concept,’ a family of six telecom goods integrated with smart technology with a sensitive visual language that flawlessly matches all home settings.
This range, which includes products with delicate geometric forms and discrete interfaces, is made from tactile materials that are heavily influenced by domestic design.
The router has a clean minimalistic form with an angled, mirrored face that conceals the interface and mirrors the surrounding surroundings at first glance.
When activated, it uses conversational language to eliminate jargon, allowing the product and the user to form a bond.
We can also link the router to up to five mesh-capable repeaters to provide internet coverage across the house. These mesh repeaters are wood and have a dished face and a softly rounded casing.
The set-top box and soundbar also function as an all-in-one media hub, connecting to the user’s television and providing high-quality audio output as well as access to video streaming media.
Handcrafted ceramics impact its materiality, and the interface disappears while not in use.
The set-top box is a small device that attaches to the television and provides access to streaming media. Its rounded appearance and lack of traditional high-tech features recall an objet d’art.
A smart remote controls both the set-top box and the soundbar, simplifying user interaction. When placed on a flat surface, this properly weighted remote self-balances. Therefore, it makes it easy to carry, and its huge capacitive trackpad provides maximum control when exploring various streaming programs.
“We wanted to shake things up and develop a new vision for home connectivity,” says Benjamin Hubert, LAYER founder.
