Crystal Martin Vietnam Office
Founded in 2004, Crystal Martin is a subsidiary of Crystal International Group; The second largest textile company in Hong Kong. Crystal Martin Vietnam (CMVN) specializes in the manufacture of famous lingerie brands such as Victoria’s Secret, Pink, H&M, Uniqlo, Puma, Lane Bryant, Lindex, Abercrombie & Fitch, GAP, ThirdLove and Old Navy, and has officially operated its factory in Quang Chau Industrial, Bac Giang, Vietnam since July 2012. Seeing the need to expand their workforce, Crystal Martin Vietnam wanted to renovate the top floor of the factory building into a new office and entrusted this challenging interior design project to D&P.
With a total area of 10,000 square meters, the first challenge we faced in this project was the difficulty of planning and orientation for the space. The solution we suggested was to play with different types of partitions from high to low, transparent to transparent and distinct color that adheres to the feng shui rules of zoning. In addition to LED signage showing the department name on the floor, this arrangement helps users to navigate easily and provides a high level of visual aid, simultaneously.
In terms of design style, we’ve taken inspiration from CMVN’s core product lingerie, creating an in-factory office with strong industrial design style and touches of femininity.
The open ceiling design is a key feature of the industrial design style and we applied it to the CMVN project to overcome the limitations of the limited ceiling height of the original factory building. Columns, concrete beams, and ventilation ducts are left exposed and painted a dark gray to create depth and a sense of openness to the space. In addition, since this large floor area and the site within the factory is subject to the constant movement of people and machinery, we chose to use imitation vinyl concrete floor to reduce noise, maintain, resist wear and tear, and provide the necessary anti-slip properties, while still creating the look of a traditional concrete floor for the factory.
To differentiate CMVN from other typical industrial style offices, we used curved partitions, unique circular and circular pendant lighting, along with the bright pastel colors of furniture and decor to help accentuate the soft, feminine characteristics of the owner’s base product, while creating a perfect look that contrasts with the strong masculine design and color scheme. Industrial style neutral.
Natural elements have always been a priority in the interior design of a D&P office. We have arranged real green walls in the reception and rest areas to contribute to the physical well-being of its occupants and make them feel more welcome. In addition, the prominent use of glass partitions was intended to improve the sense of open spaces and the penetration of natural light. In particular, we transformed the original windows in the large meeting room into floor-to-ceiling windows to give a panoramic view of the surrounding greenery and flood the room with natural light. The ceiling of the large meeting room is also equipped with Barrisol smart lighting, providing a high-quality light source and a great ambiance for the occupants.
In conclusion, the strong contrast between industrial design style and the softness and femininity that D&P cleverly adds to the design has created a unique and equally delicate interior balance that can only be found in the Crystal Martin office project in Vietnam.
